Before you buy

  • Same 1/144 scale as HG, but with an inner frame and a lot more parts. Plan on a longer build than the HG version of the same suit.
  • The parts are small. Use proper side cutters; twisting parts off the runner leaves white stress marks.
  • No glue and no paint needed. The colors are molded in.
  • First Gunpla? Start with Entry Grade or HG. RG is easier to enjoy once you have a build or two behind you.
  • Want this level of detail with bigger parts that are easier to handle? Look at MG 1/100.

Questions

What's the difference between RG and HG?
Both are 1/144 scale. RG adds an inner frame, more parts and finer detail. HG is simpler and quicker to build.

Do I need glue or paint?
No. RG kits snap together and the colors are molded in. Panel lining and a top coat are optional extras, not requirements.

What tools do I need?
A good pair of side cutters is the one must-have. A hobby knife or sanding sticks help clean up the small marks left where parts were cut from the runner.
